A few things I've learned...
1.  As much as I enjoy dwelling on possibilities, it's much more fun to actually step out and try something new.  If it doesn't work or I fall flat on my face, who cares?  At least I tried.
2.  Reserve the right to change your mind.  Nothing has to be permanent or permanently busy.  This made opening shop much less scary.
3.  It's hard to juggle a full time job and grow an etsy shop at the same time.  It's a vicious circle because there's the possibility of not needing a full time job if the etsy shop were busy enough, but I don't have the time to grow it while working full time.  So I just do what I can and leave it at that.  No sense in stressing out.
4.  Sewing items specifically for someone is super fun!
5.  Packaging matters.  And it doesn't have to be expensive, just cute and thought out.  I've been using recycled packaging paper and twine.

I could also say that blogging and facebooking and regular new inventory makes all the difference in the world of etsy sales, but that would suggest that I actually commit to doing all those things.  Lol.

Thank you, friends and customers who have made the last year a success!  I look forward to another fun year of turning remnant fabric into affordable and usable (washable!) items.  Stay tuned for information on a giveaway!
