Listening To...

Are you picky about Christmas music?  I am.  It has to be just the right blend of traditional and fun, not too much crooning or personalization, and not a new overly perky tune to traditional lyrics.  All in all, there seems to be a point in which the album is trying a bit too hard to jolly me up for the holidays.  True sincerity shines through and, even if it isn't completely my style, makes me consider the real meaning of the season and puts me in a festive mood.

What are your go-to Christmas albums?  I'm especially interested in suggestions you might have for old Christmas music, classic stuff that was recorded in the 30s and 40s.

I'll be anxiously awaiting your comments!

  1. I got the new Michael Buble this year and it's great. A fresh take on the classics but still in the crooner style. wonderful 'album'

  2. Mercy Me! Christmas Sessions! Our family's favorite... Silent Night. Nate would suggest Christmas with Johnny Cash for some classic stuff. I have to be in a good mood for Johnny, sometimes his songs make me sad.

  3. I like it all but I've heard the new Christmas CD from Michael Buble is really good.

  4. I love my Celtic Christmas, purely intrumental. Picked it up at Target about 5 years ago, and haven't tired of it yet!

    Seasons Blessings...

  5. If you like casting crowns, I down loaded their "peace on earth' on my iPad and it has been playing in our house all week:)

  6. I enjoy Celtic their style & beautiful voices. They have some videos on Youtube if you want previews.

What'cha thinkin?
